Here and There
Here is where I belong,
though 'no place' in particular
and standing outside of time,
transcending even the present moment,
a joyful vastness ,
so immeasurable that mind's net
of language ,words and concepts
could ever corral or describe it.
There is where I've been,
the dark caverns of
past and future, memories and plans,
fantasies both lovely and awful.
Entranced by the movie
of discursive mind,
a cage of apparent isolation,
lonely and cold, wanting so much
with an indefinable cramp
of discomfort and disease.
There, a bottomless vat
of concept, mind and suffering
Hypnotized by dancing form,
yearning for other,
grasping for fulfillment,
harangued by a gnawing emptiness,
an endless round of heaven and hell
with no relief in sight.
Though here and there
have the same nature
defined by 'no difference',
the experience of one or the other
in the hearts of people
are world apart.
Sit for a few minutes,
take stock of your life,
are you here or there?
