Thirsty Fish

Life's essence such a delicious drink
But you gotta know where the tap is found.
Ordinary darughts, in the realm of form,
are superficial substitutes.
At best they never last
can leave a bitter taste in the mouth
or neve quite hit the mark of expected fulfillment.

The funny thing is, that the all-quenching tap,
is ultimately you and me
and all points inbetween.

Striving to find this oacis,
and you've journeyed into the desert.
Alas, errant views and deep obstructions
give rise to news of drought,
parches the tongue of the soul.
To recognize the ineherent fountain
is for most an arduous task.

Took me many years to take notice
and still sometimes wander in illusory deserts
and fooled by drought-consciousness,
but in the words of our good friend Kabir,
"It make me laugh, to hear of fish in the water thirsty!"
