Himalayan Scenes from Auli

I gave my guides and driver a cheap thrill by buying them lift tickets to the top of the Auli ski area. Not exactly Vail, CO, but the scenery was exquisite. The ski area turned on the ski lift just for me. Money talks!


This is the highest peak in India, Nandi Devi, at 25000 feet. It's only 4000 feet lower than Mt. Everest. By the way, a lift ticket for 4 cost me 8 dollars.



Here are my three amigos in front of the Himalayan range. What I find so remarkable about the Himalayas is is the steepness of the mountains - there are valleys inbetween some of the mountains in ths background here that must be over 10-15000 feet below.
