Sights of Kochin
|
On of my stops in Kochin was to the master Vedic Astrologer Ramesh Nayak, the astrological teacher
of Robert Svoboda. He is a former mechanical engineer who gave up a lucrative job to lead a more spiritual life
engaging Vedic Astrology, which is woven deeply into the Hindu culture. Ramesh is a wonderfully sweet man, who
fed me lunch and taught me a number of valuable lessons in astrology. He has two daughters, and here is a picture
of him and his family, minus the oldest daughter.

These ubiquitous devices in the mouth of Kochin harbor are called "Chinese fishing nets", as they were introduced by traders from
the court of Kublai Kahn centuries ago. They are lowered at high tide and picked up a good time later by a crew of men
for the daily catch.
