The Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal was built the Moghul emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, who died
delivering their fourteenth child (yow!). The central chamber contains her crypt. It is made of high quality
white marble, and the Shah spared no expense building it, searching all over the known world for sources
of marble and other gems, going as far as Eastern Europe to find suitable raw materials.

My first impression of the Taj Mahal was of it size - those little spots of color at the bottom of the photo are people - the building is easily over 10 stories in height. |
