Phil's Mondo India Slide Show
Scenes of the Taj Mahal

As you get closer to the structure, a greater appreciation of the attention to detail arises. As you can see in the photo, there are carvings everywhere, and portions of the stone are inlaid with other colorful stones - the greens and browns seen here are not painted on.

On either side of the famous structure are sister buildings dedicated to other family members. These are red sandstone and white marble structures that are beautiful themselves, but are dwarfed by the beauty of the main structure. These structures are very similar in style to Humayun's Tomb in Delhi.
