Phil's Mondo India Slide Show
Sights of Udaipur

As I was walking around the Jagdish temple grounds, I noticed an old beggar woman sitting on the side of a temple structure. Her plight really tugged at my heart, which was slowly shutting down over the enormity of the poverty in India.

This temple carving is telling a story - don't ask me what the story is, but it has something to do with goddesses and elephants. Beautiful sculpture.

A few points regarding this woman. 1) That is probably her bedsheet on top of her head, and probably all she needs in Udaipur. 2) She is adorned with a lot of cheap jewelry - check the toe ring. 3) That little pot next to her is a very common site in India, sort of the Indian lunch pail, for carry food and water. I gave her some rupees for the pictures.
