Inner Temple hall of Drongja Goempa
|
This is the altar of the inner temple hall dedicated to Dolgo Khyentse. The large statue in the center
is a likeness of Dilgo Khyentse. This photo was a rare opportunity - most temples do not allow photo taking
inside their halls.
Notice the incense smoke-encrusted ceiling hanging in front of the altar. The smaller glass enclosed statues
on either side of the altar are common in Bhutanese temples, some have hundreds of glass enclosed statues lining the walls,
one for each master of a lineage throughout time.

The colored wrappers inside the glass enclosed wall are an enormous set of prayers that are used in various
functions, such as empowerments. I would suspect that Dilgo Khyentse read every one of them. The attractive
hanging on the right is called geltsen.
