Phil's All Embracing Bhutan Slide Show
Chendebji Chorten

After leaving Punakha, our group headed east towards central Bhutan, visiting various sacred sites in or around the towns of Trongsa and Jakar. Before arriving at Trongsa, we had to go over a lower mountain pass, where the Chendebji Chorten was located.

Chendebji Chorten was built in the 19th century by Lama Shida to cover the remains of an evil spirit that was killed at this spot, at 2430 meters in elevation.

Our group spent time eating lunch in the area and circumabulating the chorten.

Colorful temple hall next to the chorten.
