Just above the Hotel Windamere is Observatory Hill, the highest point in Darjeeling, offering 360 degree views, which include magnificent vistas of the Nepalese Himalayas to the north. Observatory Hill is also serves as a Buddhist and Hindu sacred shrine area, and hence the celebratory flags. |
